2002-2005 Thunderbird ‘Smart’ Transponder Key – Lost one or more of your original Thunderbird keys? We have the replacement, and for a lot less than your local Ford dealer. What’s a ‘Smart’ key? Most modern cars and truck keys contains a tiny embedded electronic chip called a transponder. Each transponder has its own unique code – the key’s ‘fingerprint’. When the key is inserted into the ignition and turned, the transponder is energized and broadcasts its unique code to the car’s receiver in the dashboard. The car will only start if the car’s computer system recognizes the key’s code. Please note that this key is a blank and must be cut to match your other keys and will require reprogramming by a locksmith or Ford/Lincoln dealer. Avoid being locked out of your 2002-2005 Thunderbird and order a spare key today!
